Goodwood Track Day ........ Chris
Darwin Charity Track Day at Goodwood
Friday 8th December saw a couple of members enjoy a good thrash around the Goodwood circuit. Having watched the weather forecast all the preceding week it was decided on the ‘phone on Thursday evening that it was all on. As a result your scribe set out in good time to be with the Secretary for half past nine o’clock. Graham now led the rest of the way to Lavant and indeed the Goodwood circuit. We arrived in good time for a cup of tea; and to avoid a shower. This was the only rain during the whole day, and the wiper was not needed once. Good luck favours the brave so it is believed. Brave indeed we were. Three laps of the circuit is about as much fun as you can have in an Austin Seven! Spanner’s timed lap was a 3m41s which is an average of 39.1mph. The last lap would have been even quicker (as they all say) but three laps was all we were allotted and we had to peal off into the pits. The pictures show that we both seem to have got the chicane pretty well weighed off, and indeed on the last lap the Chummy came through Woodcote without lifting. Good job it’s a small car and a big track! When can we do it all again? Spanner |
